Comparing accounting ERP options for an Indian distribution business
If you are reading comparison pages you are probably at the stage of drawing up a shortlist. These pages are written to be useful at that stage, which means they are more about the questions than the answers — and they stop short of telling you what anyone else's software does.
Businesses at the shortlist stage
The people who find these pages are rarely browsing. They are usually a proprietor or an accountant who has decided something has to change, has two or three names written down, and wants to know what actually distinguishes them before booking demos.
- Distributors and traders currently on desktop accounting software
- Businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets alongside a basic billing tool
- Companies opening a second branch and realising the current setup will not stretch
- Owners who want a browser-based system their accountant can reach from anywhere
- Anyone whose purchase entry has become a full-time job
Where to go next
| If you are comparing against… | Start here | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Tally | Tally alternative → | Web access, multi-branch structure, the modular model, and AI-assisted purchase entry. |
| Marg | Marg alternative → | Pharma and medical distribution specifics, multi-branch books, and browser access. |
| Tally and Zoho Books together | The longer guide → | A question-by-question framework for running your own comparison across three products. |
What these pages will not do
It is worth being explicit, because most comparison pages do the opposite.
We do not publish claims about another vendor's pricing, feature set or shortcomings. Products change, and a competitor is the worst available source on any of it. Ask each vendor directly, and ask for it in writing.
What we will do is state plainly what Easyy Accounting ERP does, and let you put the same questions to everyone on your list. Everything we claim about our own product is demonstrable in a demo on your own data — ask us to show it rather than taking the page's word for it.
Running a shortlist properly
Write the questions first
Before any demo. Otherwise each vendor sets the agenda and you end up comparing three different things.
Bring your own documents
A real supplier bill, a real transfer between two of your locations, and a real credit note. Most differences show up in those three.
Ask the same questions of everyone
Including us. Note the answers in writing rather than from memory.
Weigh the switching cost honestly
If your current setup genuinely covers what the business does, changing it for its own sake rarely pays.
Five worth writing down before the first demo
Feature lists converge. Almost every product in this category will tell you it does invoicing, inventory and GST, and almost every one of them will be telling the truth at some level of detail. The differences that matter are structural, and they are easier to find by asking how something is built than by asking whether it exists.
- Is the customer and supplier list the same thing as the ledger? Or are they two lists joined by somebody's diligence?
- What does multi-branch mean here? Genuinely separate books and registrations, or a filter on shared data?
- Where is tax logic set — company or branch? This decides whether a second state is a setup task or a problem.
- What happens when we want a module we did not buy? An incremental step, or effectively a second implementation?
- Who can delete a posted transaction, and is there a record of it? Ask to see the audit log, not just be told it exists.
Make them use your documents
A demo run on the vendor's sample data proves only that the vendor can operate their own software. Send yours in advance: one real supplier bill, one stock movement between your own locations, one credit note against an existing invoice, and a short list of your parties and items.
Then watch what happens at the awkward moments rather than the smooth ones — the line the system cannot read, the party who is both customer and supplier, the item that arrived in three batches at two MRPs. Every product looks similar until one of those turns up.
Questions we get asked
Will you tell me what Tally or Marg costs?
No. We do not publish other vendors' pricing. Ask them directly — it is the only source that will be current and correct.
Why name competitors at all then?
Because they are what people are actually comparing against, and pretending otherwise is not useful. Naming them is different from making claims about them.
Do you claim to be better?
For some businesses, on specific points we can demonstrate. Not in general, and not for everyone. If your current system fits, keep it.
What does Easyy Accounting ERP cost?
Pricing depends on modules, branches and country mix. The pricing page sets out what each plan includes, and a demo produces a scoped quote.
Can you help us migrate?
Migration is discussed at the demo. The switching checklist in our resources sets out what to prepare.
Put the same questions to us
Book a demo, ask the five questions above, and make us demonstrate each answer on your own data.
